🕯️ Day 27 – Candle Burning Mistakes to Avoid

🕯️ Day 27 – Candle Burning Mistakes to Avoid

31 Days of Warmth – Countdown to Christmas

Even the coziest candle can lose its magic if it isn’t burned the right way. Today, we’re sharing a few common candle mistakes — and how to fix them — so you can get the most warmth, glow, and life from every candle you light.

🔥 Mistake #1: Not Letting the Wax Melt Edge to Edge

The first burn is the most important.
If you blow your candle out too soon, it can cause tunneling.

Fix:
Let your candle burn long enough for the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar — usually 2–3 hours.

✂️ Mistake #2: Skipping Wick Trimming

A long wick can cause soot, smoking, and uneven burning.

Fix:
Trim your wick to about ¼ inch before every burn for a clean, steady flame.

🌬️ Mistake #3: Burning Near Drafts

Airflow from windows, fans, or vents can cause flickering and uneven wax pools.

Fix:
Place your candle in a calm, draft-free space to help it burn evenly.

⏳ Mistake #4: Burning Too Long

Candles love balance — too long can overheat the wax and affect scent throw.

Fix:
Limit burn time to 3–4 hours at a time for best results.

🕯️ Mistake #5: Blowing Out the Flame

Blowing out candles can cause smoke and shift the wick.

Fix:
Use a wick dipper or gently cover the flame to extinguish it cleanly.

✨ A little care goes a long way. When you treat your candle well, it returns the favor — with warmth, comfort, and glow.
